Summer Moon QAL: October blocks

Last weekend I sewed my own
October blocks for the
summer moon Quilt together with Fat Quarter
Business. This month's task consists of three pretty blocks: Chessboard, Dart
Birds and nonsense. I sew out of my supply and my blocks contain a mixture
Prints by Lella Boutique and Corey Yoder, two of my favorite mods
Designer.
I went villain and broke the rules
the chessboard block, but I had a good reason. I wanted to use the alphabet
Script out Corey's Yoder's Strawberry Jam collection as my neutrality
Block. The problem was that the pattern dictated the manufacture of the checkerboard squares by a method that produced seams in the neutral areas. This would have disturbed the alphabet script I wanted to use. So, after a bit of math and testing
For my part, I found out that if I cut the colored and neutral squares to 1
7/8 ", I could lay them out and connect them in a way in Granny Square and then cut them to size
the block on size. (Remember, I only sew the 6 1/2 "blocks, not so
Let the math find out for the smaller and larger blocks. You certainly
I do not have to break the rules like me. There is nothing wrong with that
Instructions as written in the book!)
I have never done a Darting Birds
Block before, but I really love it. It
is so cute and whimsical, and it was a breeze to do. While I was sewing, I have
Imagined how sweet this block would be repeated with many in a baby blanket
Shadow of the blue birds. (An idea to "one day" stay in the funnel.)
The nonsense block is another very
nice block which should were easy to construct. However, I admit that I was tired and not
Pay close attention to the pattern. I had to dig up the old seam separator
twice to correct my mistakes. Well, we all have such sewing days. once
I sewed it right, I was so happy with the final result!
